Jul 28th 2010 2:09AM Actually Red's comment is spot-on. Most beer yeast kills itself around the 5% mark with stronger strains (e.g. those used in Belgian trappist ales) maxing out at about 12%. To get a "beer" with such a high alcohol content you have to fortify it with high-proof spirit, at which point it's no longer a beer.
