The Best Celebrities to Meet in Person {Cinematical}
Apr 9th 2010 12:26PM Met Billy Zane years ago in a popular club in Chicago. At first I didn't want to bother him but one of my friends told me that he's from Chicago & many ppl are used to seeing him. So, I decided to give it a shot & if he seemed bothered I would blame it on the alcohol I was drinking, which was partly true. I approached him and he was very nice, he didn't even seemed annoyed. I told him how I loved his movies and that he was one of my fav actors. I went on a dare & asked him could I touch his chest, he was single at the time, & he said sure. I went ahead & rubbed it (I was young & crazy but also respectful & I think he could see that too) & even got him to give me an autograph. I'll never forget that night, every time I see him on tv, esp. The Titanic, I always tell my friends or family about the night I saw Billy Zane & how he was so cool!
Will a Namesake Bring Back Bad Memories? {ParentDish}
Mar 20th 2010 1:35PM There's nothing wrong with naming a child after someone in the family, whether living or deceased. It's actually a tradition in my family. I'm named after my grandmother that I never got to meet since she died when my mom was a teen. I feel that my mom wanted to honor her memory even though my great-grandmother raised my mom. All of my children have their own individual names but each one of them has a relatives name as a middle name. My husband's family didn't have that tradition but it caught on since one of my daughter's has his grandmother's, who's still living, name as her middle name. It makes her so proud and she tells everyone that her great-granddaughter has her name, the funny thing about it is my daughter acts just like her, loving but feisty. Sometimes names can also be fitting to the child's personality. Coincidently most of my kids act like their namesakes without even knowing it!
What Happens When Customer Complaints Are Scams {Slashfood}
Feb 18th 2010 2:13PM Karen G., your comment is so off-topic. Maybe you are one of these scammers that this article is referring to. I understood what Becca was saying. Here's a horror story for everyone:
I have a sister-in-law who runs these scams too. She would actually take a REAL insect such as a roach, which can be found at her house, and will proceed to order food and when she's half-way through she will call the waitress or manager and "complain" about the bug in her food. Of course the restaraunt would be so embarrased that they would offer her a free meal upon her next visit. She did this a couple of times at different restaraunts. She would come by my house and offer to take my kids, her nieces, to go out to eat with her. I would give her the money to cover the cost for feeding my kids, even though it was her idea. The first few times she turned me down then she started accepting the money, which later on I found out was a new scam for her. She would take the kids to eat and half-way through she would "plant" the insect or sometimes a piece of hair in their food then she would tell the kids to stop eating because she "saw" something in their food. Of course management would offer whichever child she "victimized" a free meal on their next visit. This went on for awhile until one day, my husband and I took the kids to one of the restaraunts here in town and when we got there the manager recognized one of my kids and asked her how she was feeling and apologized for what happened the last time she was in there. The manager said that he didn't forget that he owed her a free meal. Well, of course, I was confused and started to question my kids. They explained that everytime they went to a restaraunt w/ their aunt something was always wrong w/ their food, so they always got free food the next time they came back. I was enraged, not only was she using my kids to scam but she was scamming me out of money due to the fact that the meals for the kids were free yet I still gave her money everytime she took them out to eat! I thought she liked spending time w/ the kids but she was in fact using them for free food and money. Needless to say, I don't speak to her much these days.
Gift Cards Replace Sticky Fingers As Shoplifting Method Of Choice {Stylelist}
Jan 1st 2010 12:39PM It didn't take long for someone to make a racist and ignorant statement which seems to be common on AOL blogs lately. I've worked in retail for over 15 years and you would be surprised at who the real thieves are. They are usually older white people that most of the other employees wouldn't give a second look at because they don't consider them a "threat" although I was all too suspicious of an olderwhite person in a store aimed at clothing from teens to young adults, especially urban wear. I actually had a situation where a group of African-American women came in on a Friday, which is not unusual because they were shopping for clubwear for the weekend. Of course all of the employees and management were watching them heavily and I noticed an older white man, not racial profiling, but he looked as if he would shop at Bass Pro Shop. Well, as they continued to keep surveillance on the African-American women, I kept my eye on the man and he quickly grabbed a whole rack of jeans, the whole rack and ran out of the store. He got away quickly, as he was able to because everyone's attention was on the women. Luckily, mall security was able to apprehend him after I gave them a description of the perputrator. I think that was a great lesson for all of my co-workers to not judge a book by it's cover. BTW, the women bought some really nice expensive outfits and paid with a credit card!
Sammy Sosa's Skin? Just 'Rejuvenation' {Fanhouse MLB Blog}
Nov 9th 2009 11:17AM I've actually met Sammy Sosa in person when I was working at a mall in Chicago and he & his entourage came in to shop. His really does have bad skin and I could see why he would want to try some kind of laser treatment to correct it. Idk much about the particular kind of treatment he got, but I seriously doubt that it turned his skin that light. Also, his hair was kind of curly and as you can see in this picture, it looked like he relaxed it. It's his business if he wants to look a different way, I just don't think he should lie about it. His skin was actually a nice color, it just appeared that he may have had problems with acne when he was a teen. Actually, he was darker than I was, and I'm African-American or whatever the hell we are calling ourselves these days :) His cousin thought that I was Dominican and I told him I wasn't, which goes to show how dramatic of a change he has went through when he was darker than me. If we don't who he was, we probably wouldn't think twice about the way he looks but since we do, he's got to know that there is going to be some backlash esp. from children of his same ethnic background that looked up to him.
Sammy Sosa's Skin? Just 'Rejuvenation' {Fanhouse MLB Blog}
Nov 9th 2009 10:53AM You, sir, are an ignorant idiotic racist! First of all he's not a n-word, he's Dominican of Spanish heritage. Latin people come in an array of different colors from fair skin with blue eyes to dark skin. BTW, his wife is not white she's Latin and so is he, a prime example of the different colors of the Latin people. I'm black and am usually confused with being Dominican b/c I am fluent in Spanish. As for your so-called white sisters, they go HOT for the tall, dark and handsome. I want to emphasize the dark part.

Big Pun's Wife and Children Living in Homeless Shelter {The Boombox}
Aug 7th 2009 2:58PM Some of you ppl on here are a little harsh. True, she should've got a job...but if you paid attention to her story, you would've known she was an abused woman. Who's to say that Pun probably had more than $160K & he just didn't tell his wife? An abusive person like he was probably didn't give a damn about his wife and children's welfare. He was probably living in the moment. The woman sounds like she's not that educated (not a dis, just an observation) and when he died unexpectedly, she didn't know which way to turn. She probably trusted that his royalties would take care of them for the rest of their lives, she should've sought legal council on what all her husband actually had and what was due to him. If he ever worked, she should try to seek SSI benefits. Maybe Gloria Allred can help her. If Fat Joe was truly his friend, even though he's not obligated to, he could try to help some. Who's to say that Big Pun wouldn't have done the same for him? Then again Big Pun was an abusive husband so he probably would've been a shitty friend if the situation was reversed. I still think that Fat Joe should try to help, especially considering the fact that his friend was an abusive husband. He would get more respect from me as a fan if he did.
