Oct 1st 2010 1:17PM Agreed, it seems extraordinarily unlikely for Microsoft to acquire Linden Research/ Second Life. Where would it fit into their corporate strategy? The sudden influx of IPv4 addresses that MS would get from LL (to paraphrase one insider's sardonic comment) is the only motivation I've heard that had anything to do with a marketable asset!

Acquisition of Linden Research by Oprah would be just as plausible, and based on more well founded information than this rumor, at least for now. After all, Oprah DID purchase a recent documentary film about Second Life last month.

Aug 16th 2010 1:32PM Well, this isn't in The Onion.... It could be true, I suppose. Sort of like another story about some small number of good people that keep the world from ending, who don't even know who they are necessarily.

Tell me Bill Peters, is it true or not? I am very curious now. And don't laugh at me either (please).
