SXSW Review: The People Vs. George Lucas {Scifi Squad}
Mar 17th 2010 9:36PM Again, to belabor the point, if you are one of the chosen few who saw the Holiday Special first before any of the movies, all the discussion of PvsG makes everyone sounds like Tatooine Luke.
Time for everyone to start discussing something pertinent to their existance, the medium. Why in 2008 did George Lucas go to Congress and lobby for unrestricted internet access, while in 2005 he allowed a trade organization to coerce government to pass laws to send people to jail for seeing his movie online? and then in 2010 Lucasfilm has allowed someone (Star Wars Uncut project) to have the complete original film online? Times change and things progress, minds change, it would seem.
PvsG seems to have captivated a certain audience. But before the movie gets labeled: "Fandom DVD Only" let's try to see if they can work out a theatrical release, to get the opinions of those who haven't spoken yet. Give them a chance to weigh in. Anywho....
If your curious what the SW phenomenon looked like 5 years ago, or want more interesting but largly unanswerable questions, view some chapters of 'Thee Backslacpkping With Media'. A recomposite of the media released around the release of Revenge of the Sith which will have it's 5 year aniversary this May.

SXSW Interview: 'The People vs. George Lucas' Director Alexandre O. Philippe {Cinematical}
Mar 12th 2010 9:21AM As someone who saw the Holiday Special first, all this is kind of amusing. The technological advances which sprang from the support of Mr. Lucas is something no one can take away. Who could have expected that there'd be projects like People vs George (http://www.peoplevsgeorge.com), Star Wars Uncut (http://starwarsuncut.com/) or Thee Backslacpkping With Media. (http://www.noneinc.com/tBSWM/tBSWM_Video.html) But with these type of projects around, the next generation will proceed to build something even better.

Quote: "The fall-out of Lucasfilm’s C&D on the fan film would play out for a few years, although now the company sponsors the annual fan film competition beloved by many fan film fans. Still, it’s fair to wonder how popular TDR could have become had it not been stalled by Lucas’ lawyers. Would it have reached Troops-level icon status?"
