The Point: Obama's Bow Enrages Critics {Sphere}
Nov 16th 2009 12:29PM Have you ever considered that what may be commonplace and normal to you and to me may be strange or peculiar to others? Why is that so? How did certain forms of greeting develop? For those homebodies who never travel outside the country, book a flight to a destination beyond our borders. Experience the surprise of being in another culture. Learn that bowing, kissing cheeks, sticking out tongues are all forms of greeting depending on where you are. Viva la difference!
NASA Declares It's Not the End of the World (Whew!) {Politics Daily}
Nov 16th 2009 9:38AM Hey, it's a lot like those newspaper at the supermarket checkout that shouted out the END of the WORLD. Except these headlines were repeated once a week for 30 years. There's is, however, one link in the disaster scenario that is missing: we, to a large degree, are doubtless, the world's authors of doom as we play a large part in its destruction.
Sickness, Health and Junk Science: In Defense of Husbands {Politics Daily}
Nov 16th 2009 9:31AM As you conicisely state in your summary, The Seattle Study begs the question, presuming as proved the very thing they have set out to prove. At the onset of any life-threatening critical illness, during the medical interventions and especially in that twilight zone called after care, participants in this human drama are suffering from trauma and PTSS. Therefore, it's counter productive to assume anything about the status of relationships regardless of gender: there are just too many "ands, ifs and buts." Let's not judge. Let's remain uncritical and attempt to turn this study over to examine the flip side; then all the sides, too, before we arrive at any conclusion. More open discussion and further investigations will be needed to either disprove or prove the results of this "study."
Unending War: 'When We Win, We Can Relax' {Politics Daily}
Nov 16th 2009 8:44AM I guess I'm a wuss because I can barely deal with the ever increasing everyday stresses in this current economic climate. So my heart goes out to all the military people- families and troops- who have learned to endure in order to get through this one day at a time. Sure, grin and bear is part of living but who said you've got to like it?
Grown-up Reporter Dunks on Little Lad and Makes Him Cry {ParentDish}
Nov 16th 2009 8:24AM Hey, the Big Kid Jock reporter was doing a low comedy sketch for the cameras. The Little Kid, understandably, was startled by the bravado.
What's disturbing is that people laugh when the mom, off-cam, chides "What's wrong with you?" to the reporter. Robin Williams reports how his kid got freaked by Mickey Mouse when at Disney Land.
From the kid's perspective, Robin realizes, MM was a giant menacing alien.
D.C.'s Powerful Women Honor the Rebecca Project {Politics Daily}
Nov 15th 2009 8:49PM Ah, now if the power women had put down the champagne and exchanged their Jimmy Choos to walk for a day in the well-worn shoes belonging to those clients of the Rebecca Project, then they would have gained some insight into that Other World which you say is so close yet so far away from their purview. Pictures may be worth a thousand words but experience is priceless.
Hillary Clinton Looking Forward To Coffee With Sarah Palin {Politics Daily}
Nov 15th 2009 7:45PM Well, you know, Hillary, if you ever get a chance to chat with Sarah, you'll know, well, that you haven't met your match.
Republicans, Democrats Clash Over N.Y. Trial for Accused 9/11 Plotters {Politics Daily}
Nov 15th 2009 7:28PM Wrong message: A military tribunal would suggest we consider these defendants members of a legitimate entity. Correct status: The accused are civilian members of an organization condemned internationally as a terrorist one. The NY trial is being enacted for PR purposes and is purely procedural. The accused have already been convicted.
