Oct 5th 2009 6:58PM Less than 3 weeks ago I suffered a small stroke. First sign was drooling from right side of mouth.. Immediately checked myself in mirror and noted that my smile was incomplete on the right side. Went to tell my wife to call 911 but found myself spouting garbled sounds. Grabbed a pen and wrote "Call 911."
My wife spoke to 911 operator but sounded as if she wasn't certain of what was wrong, so I printed STROKE in upper case. Speech fade in and out for the next 6 hours. Spent the next few days in ICU under observation, but there were no apparent residual signs of after effects

It is vitally important to know the signs of a stroke because immediate attention can prevent serious consequences. So if you think there's something wrong, check your smile, waggle your tongue, Raise arms in front of you, try to speak. If any of these actions seems abnormal, call or have someone call 911. BTW, check now to find out which hospital with a stroke center is nearest to your home or place of business

Sep 14th 2009 6:08PM What's with all this schadenfreude? You'd think this guy stole money from you or asked you to send him a donation. He made a lot of money, didn't know that where there are ups there are downs, and he lost a lot of money. As far as I can see from the article, he didn't hurt anybody but himself.

I think I get it, though. Some of you posters are so lacking in self-esteem that it makes you feel much better about yourselves to have someone to kick around
who's doing even worse in life than you are.

A secure self-confident person doesn't feel diminished when he shows a little sympathy for someone who has fallen from the ranks of the high and mighty. Dykstra may have done nothing to deserve any sympathy, but as Hamlet said, "..use each man after his desert and who shall scape whipping..."
