More Americans Moving Overseas to Find Jobs {AOL Jobs}
Jan 5th 2011 6:13PM My father left the United States to get work overseas last year and a few years ago. He likes to travel and likes adventure, and he got a job in Afghanistan. It was better money and more consistent than in the United States supervising crews. I would not do it because it is very dangerous work. But, he did what he had to and wanted to do. It worked out for him since he has a military background.
Italian Vogue Oil Spill Fashion Shoot Sparks Controversy {Stylelist}
Aug 11th 2010 3:35PM As a former art student, I think based of these photos that I have seen on this page,they are beautiful. Too beautiful to make such a grisly statement. Aft first glance, I didn't see the destruction that BP has caused on our envrionment. I see the oil on her face and her beautiful clothes, as fashionable photos. Its looks like this beautiful fog behind her with this etheral lighting. I do see suffering but its glamorized, I am not convinced or feel empathy when I see this.I guess this is what you have to expect in a fashion magazine. I didn't even know it had anything to do with BP and the oil spill when I first saw it. I had to zoom in on my laptop and read this article to figure that out. Its not obvious. I don't feel a sense of sadness when I see these photos. The real thing really sends the message right away. Vogue's version is wayyy too glamorized.
Makeover My Mom: Pretty Courageous {Stylelist}
Aug 8th 2010 1:44PM I tried to click on one of your articles and the only option was New Tab. When I clicked on it, it opened a new tab and it was blank but then it froze my browser and then my mouse pointer disappeared. I was not able to shut close the browser or shut down my computer safely. Please fix these ads that are freezing up my computer. If it happens again, I will not go on this website again. Very irritated.
Ben Stein is off his rocker in dissing unemployed {WalletPop}
Jul 28th 2010 1:46PM Where do I start? Hmm. Ben Stein will understand making comments like that when he is unemployed and not getting work. I heard actors are unemployed also and not making as much money as they used to, due to this Depression. So, he would just be referring to himself.
People who have a lack of compassion usually find themselves in the same place. I am referring to people like Ermal. They have no clue how life is. The economy is in shambles right now. People have lost their jobs and their homes since they don't have enough money to pay for it anymore. I have met people like you who made comments like this and they didn't suvrive very well with this Depression. They lost everything, so now they know what it feels like. So, if you want to keep living the way you do, I would suggest you stop saying mean things like that. Karma comes around and you get what you put out into the universe. America's economy has changed, its not how it was 50 years ago. The prices of houses has went up triple people's incomes. You could afford a house on a high school education, today that would be laughable on the wages today. Incomes have not increased since the 70's, so stop comparing yourself to everyone else.
My mother was able to do well, too. She went to college and is a registered nurse making good money. Houses were cheaper in the late 80's and mortgages were lower. She bought her houses and was able to afford what she needed after that and did not have to worry about being unemployed since she always had savings to live off until she found a job again. She never had to depend on anyone. So, everyone's situation is different. Stop comparing yourself to everyone else.
My father was constantly looking for work in the construction sector. It wasn't doing so well after the house market crumbled, sadly. He found work as a teacher and odd jobs here and there. He always wanted to work overseas, so this bad economy gave him opportunities as a contractor to leave the country to work every day with month vacations in exotic countries while earning wayyy more than he would here. Now he has so much money, he does not have to worry about work. Sometimes we have to do things we don't to create a better situation. Praying may help too.
My point is people need to be more compassionate when things are not going well. We need to support each other and stop insulting others or else its not going to get us anywhere.
Senate to the unemployed: Go to Hell {WalletPop}
Jul 28th 2010 12:50PM We are in a Depression, not a recession! Those of you that think that receiving unemployment is evil can just be homeless, then. If you worked, you paid for those unemployment benefits, so if you do not want to accept the money you paid into, that's your problem. Unemployment is not that much money anyway. It would be better off to have a job. But, its their to pay for food and expenses until you find one. That kind of attitude is what landed us in this Depression. People that just had this attitude that gas prices will get cheaper, someone else will figure it out is to blame. My parents generation and other generations before us protested for change during the Viet Nam war, civil rights, slavery, women's suffrage and the list goes on. Maybe my generation will wake up and realize that we need to stop being so apathetic. We just turned a blind eye because we were too consumed with our work to pay attention and change things. I think this is a learning lesson to all of us that we need to take the time to notice the injustices and do something about it. We just went backwards instead of forward again. How many years have we learned about the Depression and how the banks were not regulated, food inflation, bread lines, stock market crashed and we are repeating the same mistakes, again????? Why?? History repeats itself. It will happen again to us if we don't change the way we do things and our lifestyles. Once we are out of this Depression in maybe about 10 years and things are going great again, this will happen again. We need to let the government know that it is not okay how they spend our tax dollars bailing companies out, but they do not help homeowners, unemployed, and American people...
Makeup for Glasses: How to Pair Eye Makeup With Spectacles {Stylelist}
Jun 26th 2010 3:11PM I think this a good start for people who don't wear makeup who wears glasses. I like make-up. I think its fun. I don't like to look like everyone else. I actually like to see people who wear make-up, I think they look well put together. Especially if one wears glasses with make-up, it looks really sharp. I think it depends on the person's skin tone, eye color, look and personality what colors they can wear on their face. Try experimenting with different colors such as neutrals and try other colors too that are not all neutral to see how it enhances your eyes or lips. If you can't see well, if you have a mirror in the bathroom such as a cabinet mirror or wall mirror, you can go up close to it to make sure you get every detail right.
Depending on how bold your glasses are, you might not be able to wear that much make-up or colors on your face. Keep it simple. I always try to get the most simple frames so that I can wear more colored eyeshadows on my eyes or brighter or darker colors on my lips.
I don't like Katy Perry's frames. Its too outrageous. That would most likely clash with eyeshadow that is not neutral and accessories. Remember, glasses are an accessory also that can clash with your other jewelry and I hate the way contacts feel or else I would wear them more often.
'Legend of the Seeker' Canceled {AOL TV}
Apr 26th 2010 5:50PM I loved and still love Xena and Hercules and miss it! I honestly never heard of this show, Legend of the Seeker. It sounds interesting. If I never heard of it or even seen a ad for it, chances are that their are many more people who does not even know this show Legend of the Seeker even exists. Shame on the tv execs who allow this to happen.
Scifi will probably pick it up and show the reruns.
Hudson Jeans Features Rock Heiress Georgia May Jagger in Racy New Ad Campaign {Stylelist}
Apr 26th 2010 2:50PM I like Hudson jeans. I own a pair of them. Obviously, they are not targeting me with those ads. I would not wear low style jeans ever again. That was really trendy and that is all you could find in the stores and I hated it. I am so happy the jeans are higher now and I don't have to see people's thongs anymore. I would not buy this particular style. I don't know why Hudson is portraying themselves this way when they are classier than this. This is not going to get me to buy that style jeans. I will buy their higher cut jeans but not this one.
Perfect Jeans - 5 Tips on How to Find Them {Stylelist}
Apr 26th 2010 2:18PM Walking around in a pair of ill fitting jeans that are not comfortable can make someone feel uncomfortable. Its not about beauty. Its about how you feel. Its similar to wearing a t-shirt where the tag is itching you in the back. When you wear clothes that fit properly, you tend to feel better. You can focus on more important things after that. If your pants are dragging on the ground because they are too long, that is going to aggravate you after awhile when you see your jeans are getting ruined or if your jeans are too tight or too baggy. I don't expect you to understand what we are talking about because you are not female.
Even though some guys understand because they like to wear comfortable clothes too. You don't get it. So, for you to be so superficial to judge someone based off the way they look is no different than someone else who judges based of expensive material objects. I am assuming you probably just roll out of bed and pick out some clothes out of the hamper to wear and your out the door. Well, not everyone is like that, so its not fair to judge this as beauty when its not about beauty. Its about comfort and feeling good. All of this because of jeans? I don't know what marriage has to do with jeans. Okaaay.
