20 Singers Who Rock a Fake Accent {Spinner}
Oct 10th 2009 10:21AM Awww...I was hoping Madonna would be on this list. Actually, her phony Brit accent only pops out when she speaks, not when she sings, so I guess she doesn't really count. Madge, honey, you're from Michigan, not London!
Usher's Ex-Wife Claims She 'Was Not Given a Fair Shot' {The Boombox}
Sep 6th 2009 8:20AM I get the "envy and jealousy among black women" thing...It happens among white women too--a lot of times women in general don't want to see other women succeed. But I don't think Tameka's "average" looks were completely to blame for turning people off. I think people were turned off by a gold-digging married woman who dumped her husband for somebody younger, richer, and more famous. K-Fed did the same thing when he dumped little-known actress Shar Jackson (pregnant with their second child) and their family for "pop sensation" Brittney Spears, and we all witnessed the train-wreck that was that relationship...
Woman Who Adopted Dog Thrown Off Bridge Faces Eviction {Pawnation}
Aug 29th 2009 10:37AM Poor dog! I can't believe how cruel people can be to animals! Thank goodness Sunny was rescued. It's unfortunate the young lady's landlord is so unenlightened about dogs: Sunny is obviously not vicious! German shepherds are even larger than pit bulls and have just as much potential to be vicious, and her German shepherd is allowed to stay at the apartment. If I were this young lady, I'd take my dogs and my rent money elsewhere. Sunny is probably used to living at the boyfriend's house--maybe they should all live there.
Should Cocktail Moms Get Sober? {ParentDish}
Aug 26th 2009 7:23PM There is a huge difference between a responsible mom who indulges in a drink or two on special occasions (like an anniversary date or holiday party to which kids are not invited) and a drunk who is either too sloshed to handle motherhood or uses booze as some sort of mommy-crutch. If the idea of being a mom isn't enough to keep you sober, don't have any kids.
Family Fights to Keep Pet Pig for Autistic Son {Pawnation}
Aug 9th 2009 9:55AM I think this family should be allowed to keep their unconventional "pet." Loopey is really more of a service animal than most pets. While her presence may not quite qualify as a medical necessity, she certainly is helping Anthony and his parents adjust to his condition, and I'm sure his doctors would agree.
The city must allow blind citizens to have seeing-eye dogs--and I'm sure those seeing-eye dogs are allowed to go places ordinary pets usually can't, like a restaurant or the bank or the library. From what I can tell, this family isn't even asking to be allowed to bring Loopey into local businesses--they just want to keep her on their property as a "friend" and service animal for Anthony. As long as Loopey stays in their home or in their yard, she's not harming anyone and they should be allowed to keep her.
In recent years it's been shown that a lot of animals not usually considered "pets" can be good therapy companions for people with medical conditions. Horses are often used as therapy animals but many cities don't allow horses and other livestock to be kept within their corporate limits.
The city council should either throw out the "no-swine" law or allow for exceptions in cases like this. I like the permit idea--it's a good compromise. Perhaps they could draft a "service animal permit" application for unconventional service animals that would require a description of the person's condition and a signed doctor's note describing the benefits of keeping the animal.
Susan Boyle Goes Glam {Popeater}
Aug 6th 2009 8:34PM I'm so glad Susan Boyle now has a look to match her lovely voice. She's gorgeous.
Brett Favre: Fans Who Are Sick of Me Never Really Loved Me {Fanhouse NFL Blog}
Aug 4th 2009 7:54AM I like Brett a lot, but his recent behavior shows that while he may have been a great ball player, he's also really indecisive and selfish. It apparently didn't occur to him that his unwillingness to just say, "I'm retiring" or "I'm not retiring," affected thousands of people--his team-mates and potential team-mates (if he switched teams), the coaches, the team managers and owners, and especially his loyal fans who didn't know whether to be disappointed or elated. It's obvious he really loves the game, and I get that he doesn't want to give it up, but everyone else is tired of the roller coaster ride.

Leona Lewis Rescues Homeless Bunny {Pawnation}
Jul 31st 2009 8:53AM How sweet of her to save the bunny from being eaten by a homeless dude--and then pen it up in her garden with a Rottweiler.
